According to the report, it currently has 1400 members and so far 230 bodies have been frozen at extremely low temperatures. The cost of this procedure is $2,00,000 (i.e. approximately Rs. 1.7 crore). However, it is too early to say whether ‘Cryogenic Freezing’ will be the miracle of the future or a failed science experiment. At the moment, it is a controversial process.
The ethical and scientific aspects of this continue to be debated. Cryogenic Freezing is also called Cryonics. It is a scientific process, in which the dead body is preserved at a very low temperature i.e. -196 degrees Celsius. The purpose of this is that in the future when the necessary advances in medical science are made, they can be revived. In this process, the carcasses are immersed in liquid nitrogen to prevent the formation of ice crystals.
Most people think it’s just a hoax, but some rich people are pouring money into preserving the bodies of their loved ones in hopes of living for thousands of years into the future. Peter Thiel recently shared his thoughts on this technology during a podcast. He said, I don’t know how much it will work, but I think we need to try these things.
