HC ਨੇ ਕਾਂਗਰਸੀ ਆਗੂ ਅਤੇ ਗਾਇਕ Sidhu Moosewala ਦੇ ਕਤਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਗੈਂਗਸਟਰ ਦੀ ਮਦਦ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਦੋਸ਼ੀ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਬਕਾ ਸਬ-ਇੰਸਪੈਕਟਰ ਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਮਾਨਤ ਦੇਣ ਤੋਂ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਅਦਾਲਤ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਸੁਨਿਸ਼ਚਿਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਕਿ ਕਾਨੂੰਨ ਲਾਗੂ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਅਪਰਾਧੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਬੇਕਸੂਰ ਵਿਅਕਤੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਲ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪੁਲਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਬਣਾਈ ਰੱਖਣ ਦੀ ਮਹੱਤਤਾ ‘ਤੇ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਅਦਾਲਤ ਨੇ ਪਾਇਆ ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਪਾਲ, ਇੱਕ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਅਪਰਾਧੀ ਦੀ ਮਦਦ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ, ਜੋ ਕਿ ਇੱਕ ਅਪਰਾਧਿਕ ਅਪਰਾਧ ਹੈ। ਪ੍ਰੀਤਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਜ਼ਮਾਨਤ ਲਈ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਅਤੇ ਹਰਿਆਣਾ ਹਾਈ ਕੋਰਟ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਟੀਸ਼ਨ ਦਾਇਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ ਪਰ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਵਕੀਲ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਦਲੀਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਵਿਰੋਧ ਕੀਤਾ। ਪ੍ਰੀਤਪਾਲ ਉੱਤੇ ਅਕਤੂਬਰ 2022 ‘ਚ ਮਾਨਸਾ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ‘ਚ IPC 222, 224, 225-ਏ, 212, 216 ਅਤੇ 120-ਬੀ ਅਤੇ ਅਸਲਾ ਐਕਟ ਦੀਆਂ ਧਾਰਾਵਾਂ 25, 54, 59 ਤਹਿਤ ਕੇਸ ਦਰਜ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।
ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਵਕੀਲ ਨੇ ਦਲੀਲ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਕਿ ਕਾਨੂੰਨ ਵਿਵਸਥਾ ਬਣਾਈ ਰੱਖਣ ਲਈ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਮਾਨਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਾਣੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਸ ਕੋਲ ਗੈਰ-ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਪਿਸਤੌਲ ਬਰਾਮਦ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ। ਜ਼ਿਕਰਯੋਗ, ਮੁਲਜ਼ਮਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੁਲਾਕਾਤ ਦੇ ਬਾਵਜੂਦ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਦਲੀਲਾਂ ’ਤੇ ਗੌਰ ਕਰਨ ਮਗਰੋਂ ਆਖਰ ਜ਼ਮਾਨਤ ਦੀ ਅਰਜ਼ੀ ਰੱਦ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ।
The sub-inspector who helped the accused in the Sidhu Moosewala Murder Case was slapped by the HC
The HC has denied bail to a former Punjab police sub-inspector accused of helping a gangster in the murder of Congress leader and singer Sidhu Moosewala. The court emphasized the importance of maintaining public confidence in the police by ensuring that law enforcers prioritize the safety of innocent persons over the safety of criminals.
The court found that Preetpal, a police officer, had assisted an offender, which is a criminal offence. Preetpal Singh had filed a petition in the Punjab and Haryana High Court for bail in this case, but the public prosecutor opposed his arguments. A case was registered against Preetpal under IPC 222, 224, 225-A, 212, 216 and 120-B and Sections 25, 54, 59 of the Arms Act in Mansa district in October 2022.
The public prosecutor further argued that the person responsible for maintaining law and order should not be granted bail as an illegal pistol was recovered from him. Notably, despite the meeting with the accused, the court finally rejected the bail application after considering all the arguments.
