ਸੈਂਸਰ ਬੋਰਡ ਦੇ ਸਾਬਕਾ ਮੈਂਬਰ ਅਮਰਜੀਤ ਟਿੱਕਾ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਫਿਲਮ ਬਾਰੇ ਇਕ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਇੰਟਰਵਿਊ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ “ਪੰਜਾਬ 1984” ਦੇ ਵਿਰੋਧ ਦੇ ਬਾਵਜੂਦ ਅਜਿਹੀਆਂ ਫਿਲਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰਿਲੀਜ਼ ਕਰਨਾ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਸੀ ਜੋ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ‘ਤੇ ਰੌਸ਼ਨੀ ਪਾਉਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਟਿੱਕਾ ਨੇ ਜਸਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਖਾਲੜਾ ਵਰਗੀਆਂ ਸ਼ਖਸੀਅਤਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਅਤੀਤ ਦੇ ਕਾਲੇ ਦੌਰ ਬਾਰੇ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਪੀੜ੍ਹੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਗਰੂਕ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਮਹੱਤਤਾ ‘ਤੇ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਇਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਜਸਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਖਾਲੜਾ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਹਾਲਾਤ ਅਣਜਾਣ ਹਨ, ਕੋਈ ਜਾਂਚ ਪੂਰੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ। ਜ਼ਿਕਰਯੋਗ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਮੀਦ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਦਸਤਾਵੇਜ਼ੀ ਫਿਲਮ ਖਾਲੜਾ ਦੀ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਅਤੇ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਪੀੜ੍ਹੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਰਹੱਸ ‘ਤੇ ਰੌਸ਼ਨੀ ਪਾਵੇਗੀ।
ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਕਾਰਕੁਨ ਜਸਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਖਾਲੜਾ ਨੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ‘ਚ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਦੇ ਅਗਵਾਵਾਂ, ਕਤਲਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਅਣਪਛਾਤੇ ਵਿਅਕਤੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਬੂਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਲਿਆਉਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਹਿਮ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਨਿਭਾਈ। Diljit Dosanjh ਦੀ ਅਦਾਕਾਰੀ ਵਾਲੀ ਅਤੇ ਹਨੀ ਤ੍ਰੇਹਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ਿਤ ਫਿਲਮ “ਪੰਜਾਬ 95” ਇਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਸੈਂਸਰ ਬੋਰਡ ਤੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਣ ਪੱਤਰ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਦੇ ਦਾ ਸਾਹਮਣਾ ਕਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ, ਫਿਲਮ ਦੇ 85 ਸੀਨ ਕੱਟੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ।
Former Censor Board member Amarjit Tikka speaks on banning Diljit Dosanjh’s film ‘Punjab 95’
The dark period in the history of Punjab, which has left deep wounds for many, is now the film ‘Punjab 95’ based on the life of Jaswant Singh Khalra. Diljit Dosanjh, a popular global star, is playing the lead role in the film, reprising his role from the film ‘Punjab 1984’, where he won acclaim for his performance.
Former Censor Board member Amarjit Tikka said during an exclusive interview about this film that despite the opposition to ‘Punjab 1984’, it was necessary to release such films which shed light on the history of Punjab. Tikka emphasized the importance of educating future generations about personalities like Jaswant Singh Khalra and the dark times of Punjab’s past.
Along with this, he said that the circumstances of Jaswant Singh Khalra’s death are unknown, no investigation has been completed. Notably, he hopes the documentary will shed light on Khalra’s role and the mystery of his death for generations to come.
Jaswant Singh Khalra, a human rights activist from Punjab, played an important role in bringing out the evidence of police abductions, murders and unidentified persons in Punjab. ‘Punjab 95’ starring Diljit Dosanjh and directed by Honey Trehan is currently facing a certificate issue from the Censor Board, 85 scenes of the film have been cut.
